Record together is composed of 3 main parts - Songwriters, Musicians, and our internal staff. Copyright issues of music composition can be very subject. The simpelest way to put Record Together's legal terms:
Songwriters own all of the content that they post to Record Together. Record Together acts as a compisition timestamp that a songwriter may claim as their property.
Musicians own all of the content of any tracks they post to a songwriter's contest until a songwriter has purchased the track.
Songwriters are given the opporunity to purchase legal rights to what a musician posts. When an idea is posted to Record Together, you are putting your legal claim to what you wrote up for sale. Musicians should not post any music for sale that they are not willing to part with legally.
All music not purchased by a songwriter remains property of the musician who wrote it. Record Together can also act as a legal timestamp for anything a musician posts as well.
